This is the company that invented the IPFS protocol, which is an important part of what people overlook. In fact, going to dweb.link shows a page on the official IPFS website confirming its authenticity. IPFS is a new protocol in itself. It has created a de facto standard gateway. it's like saying "if I don't choose a DNS server, all my queries for the .com domain will go to Verisign, so I have to remove Verisign", even though Verisign creates and maintains the .com domain registry and the entire DNS infrastructure. There is eventually a single source of truth. What would be more appropriate is that the user is presented with a warning that "no gateway found, we will connect to "dweb.link" as a default. Continue?" so that the user can make the conscious choice over whether to use the gateway or not. I dont think we should remove the hardcoding, but at the same time the users must be aware of the situation. _______________________________________________ ffmpeg-devel mailing list ffmpeg-devel@ffmpeg.org https://ffmpeg.org/mailman/listinfo/ffmpeg-devel To unsubscribe, visit link above, or email ffmpeg-devel-request@ffmpeg.org with subject "unsubscribe".
