I prevented Paul from pushing quite a few half-assed patches over the
years. More often than not, after a mandatory bullheaded period he would
resubmit the patches with the changes I demanded in — a lot of them
along the lines “you copypasted that code, you need to refactor it
instead”, on occasion acknowledging that my advice made the code better.

Your mandatory bullheaded period is going on two years.
