Completely unacceptable and fortunately not true at all.

The mailing-list has always been the main channel of development,
anything synchronous, that requires people to be on line at the same
time, is unsuited for a project on multiple timezones where everybody is
equal but nobody has an obligation. And I think it is very bad that some
body with apparent authority suggests otherwise.
