I agree the speed of iteration needed in developing a modern video encoder
does not lend itself to 1) the FFmpeg development process on a mailing list
and 2) rapid iteration whilst fitting into FFmpeg libs (e.g threading)
I will deliberately avoid commenting on the other points.
