Having talked to Fabrice lately, I didn’t get that this was his vision at all.

I think you are dreaming and I completely disagree with you.
But that’s not the question here at all. The question is “what does the majority of the developers want? What does the majority of the users want?”

Unfortunately, for both questions, I think you are in the minority. But if you want, we can call an AG vote.
